As an e-commerce store, what have you planned for this festive season? If you’re still in a dilemma, then here’s some food for thought to elevate your sales this season.
Emarketer has reported that e-commerce sales for 2017 during the holiday season is going to show a steep rise. If you haven’t joined the race yet, then this is the right time to pull yourself up and get going.

1. Plan SMARTly

There are several stores selling a variety of products online. If you are a gifts store, clothing brand, decorations company or any other brand that sells holiday related products or services, then you need to have a high momentum now, to start selling your offerings. Even if you don’t belong to this category, you still need to create a strategy to participate in the festivities and join the bandwagon in giving out special offers for the season. List out the products that you think will be most useful for your audience during the holidays and create exciting offers around those products. If you have a service to offer, then you may announce special discounts for certain packages of your service for a limited period of time.
Set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely) goals for your campaigns. Let your goals be very clear with respect to what you want to achieve with your marketing activities, how much do you want to gain out of your efforts, when do you want to launch your campaigns, for how long should they run, and the metrics that will help you assess your campaign performance.
Learn the type of audience that visits your website, and design offers to lure them to convert to leads and eventually into customers. How about creating a sense of urgency in the minds of your visitors or trying to solve a problem that’s been prevalent in your industry? Think about it.
2. Announce exciting offers to entice your audience

3. Keep your website clean and hygienic

In e-commerce, your website is your key to success. It is through your website that a visitor learns about your product, converts into a lead and then into a customer. Throughout your buyer’s journey, it is your website that keeps them engaged and gives them a holistic experience of your offering. Make sure your product images are of high resolution and depict their features clearly. Keep Call-to-action (CTA) buttons relevant and perfectly-positioned. Include forms wherever necessary, to capture qualified leads. Guide your visitors well, within your website. Maintain good links, breadcrumbs and quick responses to keep your audience glued to your website for as long as he/she makes a purchase.
Support your content with educational videos and infographics to enlighten your visitors about your brand and offerings. Remember to KISS (Keep It Simple Silly!) for higher sales.
4. Employ innovative digital marketing techniques

Search Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Email Marketing are a few ways to capture good quality leads for your business around holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving brings families together. Celebrate this idea through digital marketing techniques by targeting your audience wisely and customising your communication with each one of them. It may sound daunting but it is quite effective and simple if done right. Imagine a brand with a generic marketing campaign to sell flowers to the audience through online media. It may not be as enticing to buy these flowers if you saw a general ad that said - “Great Offers on Flowers. Buy them Now!”
However, if the brand modified this ad to suit different sets of audience, then it may yield better results.
For Females - “This festive season, let your house look as beautiful as you! Decorate your abode with these pretty flowers.”
For Males - “This festive season, gift some love to your loved ones with these fragrant flowers!”
Now that’s a definite winner, in my opinion.
